Deadly Chicago Heat Wave Breaks Temperature Records Set in 1947

AccuWeather.com community director and meteorologist Jesse Ferrell reported on Oct. 7 that the extraordinary heat recently experienced in Chicago had broken a heat record that stood for more than 60 years.

According to the Associated Press, the unusual October heat resulted in 49 being hospitalized and caused the death of at least one runner in the Chicago Marathon, which was called before the finish for the first time in the marathon’s 30-year history.
