Navistar Defense in Warrenville, Ill. Secures $1.3 Billion U.S. Army Contract

WARRENVILLE, Ill. – Navistar Defense, which is an affiliate of Navistar International Corp., said on Tuesday it has received a $1.3 billion contract from the U.S. Army to build thousands of trucks for its efforts in the Middle East.

Navistar will provide medium tactical vehicles and replaceable parts for the Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. Navistar Defense President Archie Massicotte says the contract reflects the company’s strong performance in producing high-quality products to the military.

“We have stepped up to the challenge to become a leader,” Massicotte said in a Tuesday statement. “We continue to deliver on our commitment to provide the U.S. military and allies with a comprehensive value solution that includes military vehicles and worldwide parts and field service support.”

The contract follows a $430 million contract awarded by the U.S. Army in 2005 for more than 2,900 vehicles and spare parts.
